Latest Public Art Installation
In October 2018, my family and I traveled to Capitola, California to install my second commissioned public art sculpture for this vibrant community. I was honored to have been selected for a second sculpture and was tasked with creating a playable sculpture for young and old to enjoy. I spent most of a year working on a life size double sea lion piece titled “Embrace”. My husband Phil and I traveled to Capitola for a long weekend with our daughters, their husbands and our grandchildren. The morning of the installation was exciting. As my grandchildren took their first surfing lesson we met the Public Works crew on the Esplanade to begin unloading and installing the 800 pound sculpture. We worked together for the morning turning, placing and bolting the piece into it’s permanent place. So many wonderful community members stopped in to watch that morning with such positive words about their new public art. As the caution tape was removed, people approached and could touch and interact with the sculpture. I was so happy to have a positive reaction to the piece and have it in its permanent home. Thank you to the City of Capitola for this honor. We look forward to visiting Embrace and your city again soon!
